How does shifts recurrence work?

The recurrence allows to define a periodicity for shift repetition, avoiding the need to manually define multiple shifts.

ViGIE3 allows to define 4 different types of recurrences:

Option 1: Never

The shift defined will never repeat and will only occur in the timeframe defined.

Example:

The shift will happen on the 24th of December 2023, from 21h00 until 23h59.

Option 2: Daily

The shift can be repeated every X days until a specific date.

Example:

The shift will happen from December 1st 2023, from 09h00 until 11h00, and will happen every 2 days, until December 24th 2023.

Therefore, this shift will happen on:

  • December 1st 2023, from 09h00 until 11h00
  • December 3rd 2023, from 09h00 until 11h00
  • December 5th 2023, from 09h00 until 11h00
  • ...
  • December 23th 2023, from 09h00 until 11h00

Note: In this scenario the shift recurrence has a deadline (December 24th 2023). If this date wasn't defined the shift would repeat until the end of the year and be renewed every year.

Option 3: Weekly

The shift will repeat every X weeks, on specific days of the week.

Example:

The shift will happen from December 1st 2023, from 17h00 until 21h00, and will repeat every week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays.

Therefore, this shift will happen on:

  • December 1st 2023, from 17h00 until 21h00
  • December 4th 2023, from 17h00 until 21h00
  • December 5th 2023, from 17h00 until 21h00
  • December 6th 2023, from 17h00 until 21h00
  • ...

Note: In this example the shift recurrence does not have a deadline, meaning that this login will be repeated until the end of the year and will be renewed every year.

Option 4: Monthly

The shift will repeat every X months, on a specific day of the month.

Example:

The shift will happen every month on the 15th, from January until December 2024, from 00h00 until 06h00.

Therefore, this shift will happen on:

  • January 15th 2024, from 00h00 until 06h00.
  • February 15th 2024, from 00h00 until 06h00.
  • March 15th 2024, from 00h00 until 06h00.
  • ...
  • December 15th 2024, from 00h00 until 06h00.

Note: In this example, the shift recurrence has a finish date (December 15th 2024), meaning that after this date the shift will not be renewed. If the day selected for the shift does not exist on a specific month (ex. 31) the shift will be assigned to the last day of the month.
